My name is\u00a0Shaker Samman<\/a>. For more than three years, I was a writer, fact-checker, and researcher at\u00a0The Ringer<\/em><\/a>, where I helped produce special projects like the Ringer NBA and NFL draft guides, penned features, and served as an all-around handyman. I fact-checked Jordan Ritter Conn\u2019s exemplary book,\u00a0The Road from Raqqa<\/em>, and Devin Gordon\u2019s tale of New York Mets misery, So Many Ways to Lose, <\/em>and was also an Associate Editor for Baseball Prospectus<\/em>, and a fact-checker for Air Mail.<\/em><\/p>\n

Before that, I worked for MTV News<\/em>, the\u00a0Tampa Bay Times<\/em>, and\u00a0The Times Herald<\/em>, and have written for\u00a0Sports Illustrated,<\/em>\u00a0The Guardian<\/em>, Slate<\/em>, Raleigh & Company<\/em>,\u00a0The Classical<\/em>, and\u00a0PolitiFact<\/em>, among others. My feature on Muslim athletes in the 20 years following September 11,‘Things Are Going to Be Different<\/a> Now’<\/a>, was selected as one of the best pieces of Sports Writing in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n
